SITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The MegaMercs project is an up and coming, free to play, custom EQ emulator game server that is being developed with the in-game mercenaries being totally over-hauled to boost theirabilities. Aside from their reputation for being a bit buggy, they were only useful for combating low end mobs. Special attention has been given to the healer mercs, not just in overall stats, but the focus effects for their casting have been redone for healing spells, mana regen, cast time, etc.
During initial testing, I dual boxed 2 warriors, one with a healer merc and the other with a damage casting merc. Going into Kurns and constantly pulling for half an hour, it went better than expected. The mana bar on the healer barely moved and mobs were going down as quick as they should with a solid group. If you thought the mercs were too over-powered before, MegaMercs will be a disappointment for you.
Other custom content has been a work in progress, (since last February), but I am looking forward to getting this project completed, then get it up and running. I can't give an exact launch date, but definately in the month of September, 2026. It's currently housed on it's own dedicated server in a data centre. The cost is minimal, so this project doesn't need donations of any kind. It's strictly a personal fan project for entertainment purposes only. Players will need their own copy of the RoF2 client, as well as the upcoming patch files.
The server is not intended to be a "solo server", but many things will be in place to make it easier for game play. (reduced mob stats, etc)
As per the policies/agreements set out for EQ emulated servers by Daybreak/EQEmu, MegaMercs will remain diligent in following those guidelines. This server is based off the last expansion released from the PEQ team, (Dragons of Norrath). None of the custom patch files we distribute for players will infringe upon the copyright owner's wishes.
