ZEM's and Experience
ZEM's and Experience
ZEM's for ALL zones are set to 33 percent. Many zones, by default were set to 0 percent, so that is a boost for them, while others suffered a decrease.
I've always found it ridiculous that when EQ implemented ZEM's, in all reality, discourages players from going to many zones when the base experience is less than other zones. As far as I am concerned, players should get the same base experience killing a mob (appropriate for their level), anywhere in Norrath. The overall base character experience is already 10 percent above normal and there is benefits to experience from hotzones and special event bonuses, when they occur.
RAID experience has always been lower than group experience and it will stay that way. Raids were not intended for the "solo player". Raid groups usually consisted of multiple players getting together and running mass kills, which gave them experience combined from their ability to kill. It's not about how much experience you get for one kill, it's how many you kill and how fast you can do it. If you get 1 or 2 percent per kill, then obviously, you're going to need to kill a lot to get one level. Myself, back in my live EQ days, I only ever took part in one raid from a guild (open invite) and I never did it again, simply because the experience sucked.
Hotzones will be updated on the second weekend of every month. But I'm also going to try and hold a double experience weekend, once per month.
Everquest has never been a "console game" that you go hard playing until you wrap the game and say "I WIN!". Even if you have lives and wives and kids and jobs, and you only have a few hours per week, it's a long term game of commitment. They didn't call it "Ever" quest for nothing. Norrath is a big world full of things to do, besides leveling. Slow down and check it out sometime.
