You WILL need a clean copy of the RoF2 client to play on this server.

The patch files are VERY MUCH needed to go with your client.

It really is simple to get your client ready to play on this server. You need to rename, or delete the Nektulos zone file nektulos.eqg and the nektulos_EnvironmentEmitters.txt then unzip the patch files into your main EQ client folder.

About the patch files

Most of the patch files are an absolute requirement to access custom work done on this server. Especially for the 2 custom zones, Orcland and Orcslair, as well as accessing the old versions of the Guild Lobby and Guild Hall. Most of the other files are basic one's you've seen before, but there is one file called dinput8.dll that is very much needed for accessing the 2 custom zones. It's not something that's going to hack up your client. You could play without it, but when you click on that stone for Orcland, it won't work. The configuration in that file sets up access to the two new zone ID's (787 and 788). The code for this was put together,(written) by an EQEmu developer.

The two custom zones are NOT regular EQ zones that have been redone. Both were originally designed by someone called "Windcatcher".

I redid some textures in the zones, then added them in for customized play.

Client zone maps are also included, but aside from regular spell files, an important one is the global_load.txt. It's needed to see the uncommon mob races, (instead of seeing bald humans).

The older version zone files (from UF client), for Guild Lobby and Guild Hall are needed for those zones on this server. Many of the other common classic versions of zones are used on this server, but your RoF2 client should of came with them. However, we do use the revamp versions of Highhold Pass and Lavastorm.

In any event, BACK UP your RoF2 client, before you do anything. It will give you a piece of mind. I still keep a squeaky clean copy of the one I downloaded from Steam (and paid for) several years ago.
